This book is particularly close to my heart - it's about my children! It's written from the amusing and innocent point of view of Toby about his older sister (and best friend) Clemmie who's severely disabled. Here's an extract:

"My big sister Clemmie is my best friend. She can’t walk, talk, move around much, make macaroni, pilot a plane, juggle or do algebra.

I don’t know why she doesn’t do these things. Just because.

Clemmie has a great chair. Last Tuesday we went to the moon on it.

I don’t know why we didn’t go to Jupiter as well. Just because.

Clemmie doesn’t mind it when I bang things really loudly

or chase the cat

or eat the crayons.

Sometimes I do these things just because."

Just Because isn't due to be published until August this year but already there's been tons of media interest and glowing commendations from incredible people such as former Children's Laureates Michael Rosen and Jacqueline Wilson! It's all quite astonishing and I'm just so excited about it's release! I'm also already working on a sequel called, 'Sometimes', so watch this space!
